Taff Trail is a disgrace

The Taff Trail is Cardiff's premier cycle route into the City Centre from the north of Cardiff. However it is currently a disgrace and does more harm than good in attracting cyclists to use this route instead of the busy North Road. The Trail is littered, poorly lit, potholed, strewn with debris from the surrounding trees, extremely muddy and not fit for use as a safe route into the city. On wet days it is very slippery as it has not been cleared of mud and leaves and would be a hazard for novice cyclists that the Council encourages to use the route. If you use the route you arrive at your destination dirty and wishing you'd used the road.

Reply from Highways dept at Council:
"Removal of Litter - Litter removal and sweeping on the adopted parts of the Taff Trail is scheduled to be undertaken on a monthly basis, except during winter. This equates to cleansing being carried out up to nine times annually and I can confirm that operations recommenced (following winter and the recent inclement weather) on 9th & 10th February 2013."
"Potholes - An inspection of the area has been carried out and no defects could be identified. Should you have any further information regarding location, please do not hesitate to contact Highways."
So, the Council only maintain the trail 9/12 months and not the worst part of the year. Ludicrous.
