Petersfield road junction with Barton's road not able to cope with traffic levels

Reported via mobile in the Roads/highways category anonymously at 12:41, Sat 20 November 2021

Sent to Hampshire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3134466.

The traffic light junction along Petersfield Road, turning off to Barton's Road is not able to support the current traffic levels.

This can be seen at peak times like rush hour, with cars queuing all along the hatched area to turn right into Barton's. This queue tails back to the junction with Stockheath Road, causing further jams.

Part of the issue seems to be the traffic light timing, with only 3 or 4 cars getting through the green lights at a time.

This problem will become much worse once the housing developments further down the road are completed, and the Costa/McDonald's on the corner is built, plus match days at Havant FC.

This turnoff needs to be looked at, as there will be significant congestion here soon.
