Unmarked crossing

Reported via iOS anonymously at 19:33, Thu 4 November 2021

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council and South Oxfordshire District Council less than a minute later

The crossing here was dangerous in the summer, now it is dark early it is rediculous. A car in front of me nearly hit a woman with a push chair crossing here. Won’t be long before a kid runs out in rush hour and get hit

  • We can confirm the approving Engineer and Site Inspector have been actively working with the Developer to try and improve the safety of this crossing. Bloor Homes have already cut back the existing hedge line on the Thame Road to help improve visibility to this crossing point. We have also engaged with Bloor Homes and have instructed for them to install staggered pedestrian guardrails prior to the crossing point, which will prevent kids from running straight out creating a safer uncontrolled crossing. Bloor Homes are due to complete the S278 remedial works in the coming weeks, which will include the installation of the pedestrian guardrails, however we do not have any specific dates at present.

    Kind regards Road Agreements Team

  • Maybe an illuminated ‘people crossing’ sign would be useful as well? Its more about warning the drivers of the cars the people might step out in my opinion
