Storm Drains Blocked causing large floods

Reported via desktop in the Drainage category anonymously at 14:47, Thu 21 October 2021 using FixMyStreet Pro

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

Several storm drains at the bottom of Joyces Road are blocked causing severe flooding on the section of road outside 20 and 21 Church Green (right on the bend in the road, causing a driving hazard). This has flooded twice in the last couple of days. These drains take most of the water coming down Joyces Road so need to be cleared more regularly so as not to cause a road hazard. Please can you ensure the drains are unblocked. Thank you.

  • I forgot to say that the flood shown in the picture is about a quarter of the size it was, photo taken when light enough to take. The water regularly floods the whole road, causing a major road hazard, particularly when dark.

  • In fact, EVERY highway drain is blocked from the junction of Van Diemans (The full length of Joyces Road) - also the 4 drains in Van Diemans by the postbox are also blocked. Water runs out of Van Diemans all the way to the bottom of Joyces Road where it covers both lanes of the highway plus the footway.
