Muddy / Flood-Prone Path

Reported via mobile in the Parks/landscapes category by Robert Whittaker at 12:08, Sun 17 October 2021

Sent to Breckland District Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3067182.

There's a path through the green space between the ends of Harebell Close and Fennel Way in Thetford. This is an official path installed when the estate was built, and it originally had a compacted self-binding surface to ensure accessibility for all.

However at the point indicated, the path is prone to flooding after heavy rain. Even when not submerged, organic matter has collected and the path remains muddy. It is usually very slippery, to the point of being dangerous to many users.

Work is needed to restore the original condition of the surface of the path, and to improve the drainage in order to prevent future flooding.

  • I had a reply about this on 18th October. The issue has been passed to Breckland's contractor Serco, who have "raised worksheet 73257 with the relevant supervisor who should arrange someone to take a look at the path and take the necessary action."
