Updates

  • From public pressure, weed-killing no longer takes place: roots can't be extracted, and the top-growth traps more and more dirt-particles ... which all then build-up together ! " ... unintended consequences ... " eh ?

  • As of yesterday the problem has not been dealt with. The weeds and dirt remain

  • These weeds are having limited impact on safety compared with many more locations around Witney ? It's more of a "visual issue" ? - mainly resulting from the move towards "greener" policies of using less herbicide, public funds being spread in to other priorities (& hence more demands being put on to the few community groups who DO go out and physically tackle issues, rather than just complaining someone else should do something ... ), etc ?

  • There is a nerd gor preventative maintenance of our roads. Weeds grow in kerbstones which in turn lead to deterioration of the structures resulting in repairs being required. Whilst community groups voluntarily vlean up areas this is a busy riad junction that member ls of the public should not be expected to maintain. It doesnt need herbicides it needs a few council workers with a road sweeper or with a brush and spade to clean it up as part of normal street cleaning. Witney is getting swallowed up by weeds and turing inyo a scruffy place. Other towns kerp tgeir roads vkean and tidy and weed free so why cant Witney?

    State changed to: Fixed
