Woeful provision of cycle route during roadworks
Reported via desktop in the Current Roadworks - live information category anonymously at 11:04, Wed 13 October 2021
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3059632.
The provision of a cycle route that has: * Dirt surface * chicanes * slalom course around the raised ironworks * a couple of deepish loose gravel parts ready to catch the front wheel of an unwitting cyclist * customary, inappropriate "Cyclists dismount" signs on what is actually a cycle path
Is inappropriate and insufficient provision for cyclists on what is a main cycle route between Oxford and Witney/Eynsham. In the dark and wet, this provision is likely to cause accidents to cyclists. The provision of a cyclists dismount sign on a cycle route is nonsensical and shouldn'tabsolve the council or contractors of their responsibilities around designing appropriate alternatives fr cyclists and pedestrians during raodworks as per DfT guidance.
