Please accept our apologies for the incorrect previous updates. Works to install a new tree pit with edging and root barrier were started at this location today. To be able to complete this to the required depth to install a new tree the root ball and roots of the old tree that remain in situ will need to be ground out by our Arboricultural contractor. To this end the area has now been exposed and barriered off by the minor works contractor, ready for the Arboricultural contractor's attendance. Once this has been carried out the tree pit can be installed to the correct specification and the footway reconstructed. Please bear us with us while these works are carried out. These should be completed by the end of next week at the latest, but we hope for them to be completed sooner. The arboricultural team are making arrangements to install a new tree as early as possible once the finished tree pit is in place. The only caveat to all of this is the potential for the contractor to find utility services/ducts within the required tree pit depth that would lead to the specific site needing to be abandoned and reinstated as footway. We have checked the utilities plans in advance and hope this won’t be the case but unfortunately until you actually excavate it’s not always possible to know exactly what you may find. We will keep this FMS updated with any further info or issues that may arise. We apologise for any inconvenience these works may cause in the meantime.
