Road drain still blocked outside 18 and 20

Reported via desktop anonymously at 06:48, Tue 5 October 2021

Sent to Adur District Council and West Sussex County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3042158.

Road drain still blocked after heavy rain. The puddle overflows on to front block paving. This has washed out jointing sand and caused subsidence. This could potentially be affecting the house foundations.

  • Hi Highway drainage is still coming into my property. The drain has never been sorted properly. Tim Lawton MP was involved in this in the early days and I shall be contacting him again. My front garden and the footings of the property should not be used to supplement poor drainage. All the water from the Close and other peoples driveways drain to this corner as it is the lowest point.

  • Still no contact about sorting the problem. Sand bags in place for heavy rain. I will change driveway to keep out Highway drainage giving the problem to other neighbouring properties.

  • Just had some heavy rain and flooding drive, property again. The authorities did attempt to clear drains as a routine clean but nothing has improved. Drains that connect to main drain not draining away so problem is further down the line.
