Excess speed approaching and through section of Wick Lane containing parking lay-by and entrance/exits to car park for Savill Garden

Reported via desktop anonymously at 14:29, Thu 30 September 2021

Sent to Runnymede Borough Council and Surrey County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3034292.

The national speed limit of 60mph applies to this section of road. Cars and motorbikes approach this section of road at excessive speed. There is a bend in the road, the road narrows, visitors to Windsor Great Park park their cars in the lay-by and walk to and from the park. There are no pavements or proper footpaths for pedestrians. My family lives on this stretch of road. In the last five years, there have been three accidents where cars have rolled over upside down; the fire brigade have attended to cut people out; car occupants have been seriously injured and the air ambulance has attended once. Often, there are many cars parked, there are pedestrians and there are often queues of cars or cars turning into the carpark, but drivers approach and pass through at too high a speed. Please could signs be placed at the approaches to slow the traffic to 30mph and to warn drivers of elderly and young pedestrians and pushchairs?
