Inadequate '20 mph' signage.

Reported via desktop in the Road traffic signs category anonymously at 14:58, Mon 27 September 2021

Sent to South Gloucestershire Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3027852.

On Brierley Furlong, after exiting the railway arch bridge and the mini roundabout, just after the Pedestrian Light Controlled Crossing, the sign denoting the end of the'20 mph' zone is inadequately placed to be viewed by road users. First, the sign is on a pole against the boundary fence/hedge of the Insurance Company and is obscured by overhanging branches. Secondly, the sign is too small and needs to be bigger. Thirdly, why not also paint '30' on the road surface maybe with a '20' stuck through?

Updates

  • Overhanging branches obscuring the “20 mph” sign. When will the “20” in a roundel be painted on the road?

  • The overhanging branches are still obscurring the sign. Why doesn't the Council just trim the offending branches back or even re-position the branches behind the sign? A "30" roundel on the road surface will also reinforce the change in the speed limit.
