Overgrown tree
Reported via mobile in the Public Trees category anonymously at 14:21, Sat 25 September 2021
Sent to Bromley Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3024302.
The tree outside my house is not maintained properly. It it’s over grown and the branches look like they could fall off at anytime and injure someone or damage my cars. The mess that comes from the tree is also making my car a mess and dirty meaning I’m having to wash it every day otherwise I would not be able to see out the windscreen as some sticky stuff is falling out of the tree onto my car. It is wasting my money and time having to do this everyday. Please sort it out as soon as possible.

This issue has not been fixed. The tree outside my house is still overgrown and has not been touched/cut as per your action. It is now that overgrown that is is interfering with the telephone line as per the picture. This can be very dangerous. Also where the leaves fall on the floor it makes it very slippery which is also dangerous

Thank you for your enquiry. I am sorry but in line with the Bromley Tree Management strategy (https://www.bromley.gov.uk/ downloads/ file/ 3334/ tree_management_strategy_2016-2020) we do not prune trees thought to be overly large.
The Lime trees of 'Lime Tree Walk' were planted circa 1927, in assessing trees we follow best arboricultural practice and to attempt to reduce the size of the trees would contradict this, inducing stress to the trees, which the pruning wounds would open up the old trees to pest and disease which is heavily dependant on the trees having sufficient energy reserves to occlude wounds complicated further by the stress the trees are already under given our current drought conditions.
I am sorry but we do not prune trees for overhead cables, as part of the service agreement the provider of the service is obliged to maintain their network of overhead cables and has specialist teams to carry out utility pruning which may involve the temporary disconnection of service and re-routing of the cables, please speak to your service provider to organise works.
Leaf fall is part of the tree’s natural yearly cycle, the consequence of which can be dealt with by Street Cleansing (Tel: 0208 313 4557) .
Leaf fall happens for a relatively short period of the year and any temporary inconvenience has to be balanced against the benefits the trees bring to an urban environment.
Therefore on this occasion the Borough will not be able to undertake the works that you request of us.
State changed to: No further action
