Ongoing Pavement Paving Slab Damage Due to Parked Vehicles

Reported via desktop in the Other (non-highways) category anonymously at 09:51, Fri 17 September 2021

Sent to East Hampshire District Council and Hampshire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3007247.

For attention of EHDC or HCC - whomever deals with constructing bollards, and/or issuing PCNs in Petersfield, Dragon Street. This is an area which needs addressing by the council. The police do not construct bollards or repair paving slabs, so please do not ignore this report and simply direct me towards the police. The area needs an alteration - the police cannot be expected to constantly monitor this area for the council.

The paving slabs outside the Malabon and Lemon Grass restaurants are becoming cracked and severely damaged due to vehicles being dumped/driven along on the pavement all day long.

Customers for the Malabon and Lemon Grass restaurants regularly use this area to park their vehicles whilst they go in the restaurants and enjoy their meal. Driving along the pavement is illegal anyway, but the council needs to look at this because it happens all day long and the public pay for the repairs to the pavements whilst careless people, who can't be bothered to walk from the free layby on the other side of the road, want to park right outside the restaurant's door whilst they sit there watching their vehicle and eating.

On a daily basis (mid-late afternoons), van drivers are now also treating this like a free parking area -- one of them works on the other side of the road, and because he has seen that people park there to 'pick up a curry', he now leaves his blue van there all day long.

Picture from StreetView outlining the area used as I don't usually have my camera with me in this area, but I will follow up with photos at some point.
