Reported via desktop in the Street lighting category anonymously at 10:54, Tue 14 September 2021
Sent to Kent County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 2999909.
Kids play area near 36 Millfield. Passageway to the park has two street lights. The one nearest the road and walkway to the park hasn't been working for the last 18 months and has been reported I'm told many times.

This street light is not fixed, a very large area is in pitch black and you cannot see where you are walking.

The council emailed me to say it would be fixed on 14th September. Needless to say, it's not been fixed. The area is not safe to walk in at night - it's pitch black.

When I first posted this, the council emailed me and said it would be fixed soon. It hasn't. I've emailed them back twice - no response. I have reported it to them again - no response. They are clearly not going to fix it!

This is how it is at 5pm. Later, its pitch black. There is an walkway behind which you can't see from the image which goes to two blocks of houses and this is the only lamp post anywhere near. The walkways is dangerous and pitch black due to this lampost not working. It not been working for years and after initially responding the council is now not bothering to reply over it.

I saw a man repairing a different lamp post nearby so stopped and talked to him about the broken one near us. He didn't know anything about it but said he would look in his van and see if he had what he needed to fix it. He fixed it! No one had taken any notice of reports on here or complaints. If I hadn't seen him and asked him to, it still wouldn't be fixed! Very grateful to him.
