Pedestrian Crossing Needed

Reported via desktop in the Roads/highways category anonymously at 13:15, Fri 10 September 2021

Sent to Leicestershire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 2992527.

Could a pedestrian crossing be considered for this new junction?

I've noticed how much more traffic is using this stretch of road now the new housing development is becoming occupied, construction vehicles and visitors to the Doctors.

There is currently no safe place for people, particularly the students making their way to Heath Lane Academy, to cross.

The road / pavement layout mean that people are tend to cross at an angle, cutting across the corner of the road.

Updates

  • Has any further consideration been given to a crossing here? If not, please reconsider. Traffic in this area is getting busier during rush hours, with more residents now moving into the new houses. At present, there is no safe crossing area for (predominantly) students walking to Heath Lane Academy. Drivers do not always signal their intention adding further hazards for pedestrians.
