Damage to private road

Reported via desktop in the Potholes category anonymously at 17:04, Mon 6 September 2021

Sent to Hampshire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 2983404.

We live on an unmade road. The residents always top it up/repair it ourselves when potholes occur etc. In the last few weeks however the main road running past Chapel Lane was closed due to a fallen drain. Whilst the Highway maintenance staff had displayed a couple of road closed signs they were encouraging and signposting people (including lorries and horse boxes) to use our road as a cut through. Not only were people driving too fast (and we ended up putting up a make shift sign reminding people to sow down) but they have significant damaged the road whilst rallying around. There is significant broken concrete in front of our house and other neighbours that is beyond our repair and purse strings. It is costly enough repairing the little damage we do cause annually, we shouldn't have to cover this too. we were advised by the highways agency to make contact and file a complaint as they could see the damage that had been caused. this is causing damage to our cars and impacting on our drives now as people are using our drives to avoid the pot holes.
