Regular very dangerous and inconsiderate parking in Crane Mead

Reported via desktop anonymously at 10:56, Sat 4 September 2021

Sent to East Hertfordshire District Council and Hertfordshire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 2978298.

As will see in the attached photos I am increasingly concerned about a dangerous and inconsiderate parking issue on the road into Crane Mead in Ware (approximate post code SG12 9PX)

As the photos show there is only a pavement on the left side of this street and this car regularly parks on the apex of the corner blocking visibility of oncoming traffic and not leaving enough space for a mobility scooter or wide pram on the footpath. As the photos show the kerb is "double height" at the location so forcing affected persons out onto the road with no visibility of oncoming traffic!!

This is now a regular occurrence- always the same vehicle I have also reported this to the Police.

Updates

  • Now the owners of other cars are copying this behaviour. All that is needed is a small extension of the double yellow lines. IMHO this should have been done at the same time that the existing double yellow lines were painted.

  • Not sorted yet, but after a meeting with a gentleman from the highways authority and a senior county councillor it seems likely that there will be considerable modification to the current parking restrictions next year. Fingers crossed that this will happen before any bad accidents occur!
