Tree support deteriorating

There is a large tree in Walnut Tree Gardens that has a metal cable supporting a huge tree limb that juts out away from the main trunk. It has begun to shred and is cutting into the tree and could cause a wound that would introduce disease. It might be worth cutting back or even removing some of the branches higher up to help reduce the weight on this tree limb.
