Linear 'strip' potholes along joint lines

Reported via desktop in the Potholes category anonymously at 16:33, Mon 2 August 2021

Sent to Hampshire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 2909037.

The road surfacing has failed and several linear potholes have formed where the road surface joints were not sealed, the holes are sufficient to unseat a cyclist at best, or to cause them to lose control and crash, potentially into oncoming traffic with fatal results.

    "Enquiry Type: Carriageway Pothole Defect

    Location: TITCHFIELD LANE

The enquiry you raised has been inspected. As it does not present a hazard to highway users it does not require action at this time.

Adopted roads in Hampshire are routinely inspected at regular intervals. The issue will be monitored and any future maintenance requirements will be identified as part of this process.

Further information on our routine inspection policy can be found by clicking on the link below:

So there we have it, dangerous road defects that especially impact those on two wheels "does not present a hazard". To those on 4 or more wheels it probably doesn't, to those of us on two it most certainly does.
