Road flooding

Reported by John Hall at 12:20, Tue 13 November 2012

Sent to Cumbria County Council and Eden District Council 5 minutes later

Every time it rains water overflows from a field side drainage ditch further west onto the road, then flows down the road to the lowest point by The Hollies often flooding the whole width of the road. There seems to be no road drain at his low point. If this problem persists until we have frosts it is an accident waiting to happen.

Updates

  • Someone has dug drainage channels into the verge but this has unfortunately not fixed the problem as this recent photo shows.

  • Although the field drain is still overflowing down the roadside this appears to be being successfully diverted into the grass verge before it reaches the low point of the road now. If this will still work when we have heavy rain remains to be seen.

    State changed to: Fixed
