No entry signs
Reported in the Road traffic signs category anonymously at 20:59, Mon 12 November 2012
Sent to Central Bedfordshire Council 1 minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 290185.
On King Street there are "No entry" signs leading to the High Street. These signs are damaged and being repeatedly ignored by various motorists regularly. Myself and members of my family have been involved in various incidents whereby we have been face to face with oncoming vehicles when turning into King Street. On a few occasions the oncoming motorist has reversed, but not every time. I feel this is a highly dangerous situation as not being able to turn off from the new roundabout will eventually cause a serious accident despite the new 20mph limit. Works vans and diggers have set an example during construction that the general public are now continuing. As construction is now largely complete, I hope that some action may be taken to address this growing problem.

No Entry has been painted on the road, but the signs are still damaged and at an angle. It doesn't help that cars and vans park in front of these signs, but motorists are still driving through.

The signs are still damaged or not in full view, but vehicles still go through the No entry.

The highways agency have painted "No Entry" on the road, and put a new "No Entry" sign in front of the old sign (only 1 side of the road). Has this stopped cars going through the No Entry...NO.

Repair works have resumed on the High Street and the Highways Agency who are in charge of the repairs are yet again driving their fork trucks and tippers through the No Entry signs.

Updates on problems are not reported back to councils by fixmystreet. however, thank you for recording the issue. I shall bring this to the attention of Bedfordshire Highways, Amey. I am sure they will be better placed to speak with the contractors about this issue. Cllr A. Winter
