3 Years of Neglect Shows. 6ft Tall Weeds

Reported via desktop in the Other (non-highways) category anonymously at 08:43, Tue 27 July 2021

Sent to Hampshire County Council and Rushmoor Borough Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 2893398.

We took down hugely overgrown leylandii from our property four years ago. Nothing used to grow behind them as the area was very dark and shaded. Since taking down the trees, the area has light and has grown some serious weeds, that grow into the road and drains and onto our property, to the stage where it is damaging our fence and new bushes, shrubs etc as we cannot access the area as the weeds are huge, some even look like small trees. There are stinging nettles that are so huge and deep, that we cannot access the area to try and cut back the mess that is taking over our garden. The Ivy has grown along the rear of our fence and it is doing damage. I have reported this to the council three times over the last three years. All I get is a response stating that they will pass the information on to maintenance and nothing happens. On the edges of the road, the bushes and cherry laurels are not being maintained and are over growing into the road. The whole road is being neglected. The bushes etc have only had one tidy up in three years. Surely, this should be a yearly job. The weeds grow out of the road edges to around 3ft tall, then one of the residents will cut them down, surely there should be some sort of weed control. I also contacted our local councillor by email last week, with no response whatsoever. Our house is on the market and the neglect of weeds etc in Stake lane and Brewers close is actually scaring off potential buyers.
