Car repair business from residential property
Reported in the Car parking category anonymously at 23:33, Mon 5 November 2012
Sent to Hillingdon 2 minutes later
The occupant of 33 Priory Avenue, Harefield is running a car repair business from his grandmother's residence. He is using adjacent Priory Gardens to park both his and customer vehicles. Access to his off-street parking space and shed is also located on Priory Gardens. Residents without off road parking have to battle over scant parking spaces most days. All residents are subject to noise (revving, music etc), and burning oil and soldering smells.
The occupant of 33 Priory Avenue is unemployed; apparently he is a full-time carer for his grandmother whilst located beneath a car! Little doubt he is in receipt of somesort of benefit, topped off by car repair money.
Dear ** ****
Thank you for your recent email.
In order for our enforcement officers to take this report of a business being run from a residential property further, they will require some more information in order to open an investigation.
We would like more details about what you have witnessed, for example, any money changing hands between owner and customer, are you aware of the business being advertised and how many vehicles are on the road and how often. If there are any further details you can provide to help us, that would be most helpful.
I look forward to hearing from you.

Dear Sonal, I have not witnessed money exchanges and I am unaware of any advertising. However, I know that the occupant, M***** ******* is unemployed and that he shares the property with his grandmother whom he is allegedly full-time carer to and there is much tooing and froing of mainly men and their vehicles, particulary in the afternoon and at the weekend. Currently ** ******* has four vehicles (one panel van, one BMW, one Ford Focus and the other make is unknown) parked along Priory Gardens and one vehicle (make unknown, possibly a VW Golf) located in the off-road parking space. I believe he has vehicles parked outside 33 Priory Avenue too and several more vehicles parked in his mother's front garden located along Truesdale Drive, Harefield. I frequently see ** ******* poking about in the panel van, which rarely moves, I believe it has Kartech or something similar printed on the side, retrieving tools etc to carry out repair works. I find it hard to believe that an unemployed young man living in what appears to be a council house with his grandmother, can afford to tax and insure such a high number of vehicles, especially considering that I'm likely twice his age and my car insurance for a group four car with maximum no-claims bonus falls just short of £400.00 per year. I do not believe that Carers Allowance, Job Seekers or Incapacity Benefit would enable an individual to own so many vehicles. Thus, I can only conclude that given the activity witnessed, he is making a living from repairing cars from the property or involved in some other illegal activity. This problem has been simmering for a while. Sadly it has now gone too far. There is no-longer adequate parking for residents of Priory Gardens and to say the battle for spaces amongst us is causing tension is an understatement. Whilst at home on weekends there is constant revving, playing of music and general noise emulating from where he works on vehicles. Often not the road is completely blocked by his vistors double parking, meaning residents cannot enter or exit freely, the same would apply for emergency vehicles. The gate to his off-road parking space opens out across the footpath (I believe this is illegal?), this forces pedestrians to walk on the sloped grass verge, which is dangerous in wet weather; ******************************************************************. A further consequence of his actions is that the section of footpath located in front of his off-street parking has become very soiled and a huge pothole has appeared, again, a danger to pedestrians. I do hope you find this information of some use and you are able to investigate and put a stop to this inconsiderate and likely illegal activity. Kind regards ** ****
