Road surface cracking up and drains subsiding

Reported in the Roads/highways category by Rayt Ward at 15:12, Sun 4 November 2012

Sent to Norfolk County Council 3 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 288269.

The stretch of road from Longwater lane junction to Tower Hills junction is a mess of sunken drain holes and cracked road surface, in some cases holed as well. West End has had no proper maintenance carried out on it for over 13 years, in spite of 2 promised works which never happened. Major work is long overdue.

  • Why do we waste out time in reporting these problems when nothing is done. I've raised 4 reports of damage on West End and nothing has been done to rectify any of them. No point in reviewing the status after 4 weeks, the County Council just ignore the residents in Costessey.

  • Monday 2 April 2018. Severe flooding opposite the florists in West End. 2 council 'workers' threw tarmac into the drain which has been blocked now for over 2 months, don't know what they were trying to achieve. Water is now across half the road, the drain is over 4 inches below road surface level and blocked solid. On the opposite side of the road is another collapsed drain. Wait for compensation claims!
