With the haphazard ways that cars are parked for a fire engine to reach a house on fire where I live it wouldn’t be able to arrive very quickly. When Kings Drive was closed for several days having work done there that meant the only way in was to go out of town right up to Stafford Leys road and then drive through all parked cars children coming out of school maybe and go round narrow twists and turns to get to where I live at the corner of Webb Close and then on to Hobill Close. In fact we have no quick help and no quick way out of any danger. We only have to have an ambulance come and often the road is blocked because it sometimes has to park in the middle of the road What I and my neighbours were thinking. Could this piece of land at the footpath gate area be made a road that joins up with the road near the M1 services road. Be gated but then be accessible by emergency vehicles. It’s a matter of only about 4 metres by 5 metres. I would feel much safer and it wouldn’t be a through road. But if authorised in an emergency the gate could be opened and we could all drive to safety if our roads were blocked for some reason

The only problem in making this boundary a emergency only entrance and exit is that cars would not be able to park in the cul de sac. But I feel this a small price to pay for if danger was accessed and dealt with quicker Also. What would the people living in Webb Close and Hobill Close as well as the lower half of Kennedy Way be able to do if theee was a fire or a person collapsed with a heart attack. It’s all right saying we could walk through the gate to the footpath and the roads of the service station. Plus those in Hobill Close could walk to the estate on Forest House Rd but what could we do if at deaths door or in danger from attack and violence. The police would struggle to get near. Even if the police drove up to the start of the footpath and ran through the gate the criminals would simply turn around and speed off down Kennedy Way. Police could come from the Kings walk Rd but it’s very difficult to surround and arrest someone when there is no road to pursue them on. We hear that time is of the essence. Time would be more if more was done to extend it.
