This is a little corner of our home beach, Carbis Bay, which I enjoyed with the children this afternoon. We love this space, we care for it and look after it. We may not own it but we are one of many true guardians of this special place. current demolition, destruction and new buildings occurring - all of which commenced illegally without planning permission; cutting down precious trees and scrubland during nesting season; destruction of a badgers’ sett and covering all trace so it couldn’t be investigated; lying continuously when challenged on their plans, until they had to apply for retrospective planning permission as they knew they’d been caught out; were told by the council to stop building but have not; and the biggest fib was that they said they’re building the 3 x 3-roomed ‘meeting’ lodges for the G7 summit next week, when the Cabinet Office confirmed they did not request these buildings!! Coincidently, the hotel was denied planning permission just 3 years ago in the same space for, you’ve guessed it: 3 x 3-bedroomed holiday lodges. Do you see what they’re playing at! So if you care at all about preserving these unique and natural spaces from overdevelopment and thoughtless destruction so it can be treasured and protected for generations to come, please consider objecting to their application. It is being debated on Monday 14th June (the day after the G7 summit finishes!). If we don’t speak up, then who will? You don’t need to live here to share in our concerns and despair. There are loads of helpful, thoughtful references and explanations in the other comments on the planning portal. Please consider being a voice not just for now, but for the future. Thank you 🌳
