Broken fencing

Reported via desktop in the Parks/landscapes category anonymously at 14:16, Sat 19 June 2021

Sent to Vale of White Horse District Council less than a minute later

Another section of perimeter fencing has been broken. A number of sections are rotten and over the years some have been removed, others lay broken still. This section is now free so as reported a couple of years ago with another piece of fencing this is a danger to children who will, I'm sure, try to move it / play with it. When I last reported the very next section I was told a replacement would be provided to avoid vehicles encroaching on the green. This was never done. The gap to drive on is now very wide and right by a drop down drive. Corner of filed is outside 18-24 Farm Piece.

  • Problem still unresolved. Danger to children using the green, posts have already been moved a couple of times - I have put them back - and could allow vehicle access.

    Still open, via questionnaire

  • Still unresolved and a potential danger to children. Local people try to keep this road and area in nice condition but this fencing is now an eye sore and a potential danger to children. There are a number of bits now broken. Some have been removed in the past, would it be more cost effective to review all parts. See another picture from start of Farm Piece. This fence is falling apart bit by bit and at a fast rate now.

    Still open, via questionnaire

  • I've asked for this to be discussed in the next Parish Council meeitng.

  • Still open, via questionnaire, 15:01, Fri 17 September 2021

  • Still not resolved. Fully understand it is doubtful this will be addressed quickly but problem goes back years rather than the 3 months 1 week of this particular section. Rather than apply a sticking plaster the whole fence needs to be reviewed, replaced or removed to make the area look nice again - just tatty now.

  • Problem with fencing in Farm Piece and Mawkes Close first reported back in 2017 after which a few sections were removed. Chap who viewed job said some replacements would be provided to prevent vehicle access. Nothing since. This thread dates back to May 2021. Discussed at recent Parish Council with outcome to report via Fix My Street so no real progress. In my view all sections now need to be removed on safety grounds even if not replaced.

  • Just a few more examples for now - I could add lots more but hope these and earlier reports give a clear enough picture of the extent of this issue. It is an eye, danger to children and matter that just worse each day.

  • Another week, another section collapses.

  • More broken or missing than fit for use now - a real mess that needs attention now surely.
