Overgrown hedges etc blocking pavement

Reported in the Pavements/footpaths category anonymously at 20:09, Thu 23 August 2012

Sent to Hampshire County Council less than a minute later

Our daughter and Son in Law have recently moved into the Funtley hill area of Fareham and we now walk at least three times a week between our house and thiers taking the route along Red Barn Lane and Funtley Hill. As there is only pavement on one side of Red Barn Lane heading eastwards after passing the school we have to use this pavement. There are many trees , bushes , brambles and stinging nettles overhanging this pavement and have on more than one occasion been scratched and had clothing snagged. As we look after our small grandson 3 days a week we now feel it is dangerous to take this route as when pushing him in his buggy in places the only way to pass the over hanging brambles is to walk in the road. The bushes do not appear to be in anyones garden so we are left to presume they are on councils property. We know that the local council writes to residents asking them to prune overhanging greenary so surely it is only fair to assume that the council should do the same with thiers. We look forward to your respose in the very near future as we feel this is a public health and safety issue that should be rectified sooner rather than later. Regards Mike & Carol Burrows
