Preservation of a tree

Reported via desktop in the Trees category anonymously at 13:49, Fri 14 May 2021

Sent to Leeds City Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 2726045.

I am in my 70's nd have lived in this house since January 1971. My daughter recently told me about a new neighbour where she lives, who has cut down trees and all the large shrubs in his garden which the birds used to rely on. I am now worried that when I can no longer manage this house and have to sell that someone will want to cut down the tree that I planted many years ago. It supports a great deal of the local birds and is at the moment a hive of industry with magpies, blue tits, collared doves and sparrows all flying in and out of it all day long. I would hate to think that the same fate would befall this tree as it has in my daughter's neighbourhood. I also have 2 more trees in the back garden but these are not as mature.

Updates

  • I hope this will ensure that this tree is protected in future but as my next door neighbour doesn't seem to share my love for this tree I am quite worried about the impact it might have on future residents at this property.
