Scotsgrove cottages A 418

Received by Buckinghamshire Council moments later

As a two year resident of Scotsgrove cottages and one of 6 property owners in the residential group I want to report that despite the speed limit on the A418 outside our house having been reduced from 60mph to 40mph last year, the speed of passing trafic and specifically Heavy goods vehicles on this section of road has not reduced to a safe speed let alone to 40mph. We lobbied for the speed to be reduced to 30mph to have any impact on the safety for residents exiting the cottages on to the A418 but this was ignored. We have daily near miss incidents with cars and HGV's coming up the A418 from Thame and around what is a blind bend to scotsgrove cottages. There will be a fatality on this section, it is just a question of time. We asked for appropriate signage i.e flashing 40mph speed limit signs, a smily/sad face sign and what would be most effective would be a speed camera opposite the cottages. Unfortunately this has also been ignored. This situation will not go away and serious attention to both the speed of the traffic outside Scotsgrove cottages and the lack of visibility for residents when turning right and heading down towards thame. This is a blind bend and still the traffic which is meant to be doing 40mph flies up the hill without heading the few small 40mph signs now in place. Please attend to the location so this situation can be resolved before someone is seriously injured or god forbid killed on the road section.

Thank you.
