  • There was a lorry that filled in 2 strips that quite honestly were not to bad but there are still loads of bad pot holes that have motorists weaving in and out to miss them which is unacceptable. The roads in this scheme require a lot off work to get them up to an acceptable standard. One off the worst is at the first speed reducing hump from the drive to avenue since the telecom upgrade and still requires attention.

  • Wester Broom Avenue. Once again a lorry turned up and filled in one or two holes they even lifted two strips full width of the road that did not require any work. The road is still in need off major filling of the mass of other pot holes. My wife has a very sore back and she hates having to travel on these roads which cause her much pain. Is it not about time that they come and fill in every pot hole in one go as they seem to be blind to the fact that they are wasting time returning every other week to fill in just one or two holes. Very soon someone is going to damage their car or a cyclist is going to have a major accident and claim the council or whoever is responsible.

  • I first reported this problem in 2019 about potholes and standing water outside my house and enclosed photos. I received the following reply suggesting the job was too big to fix and since then have had no contact from them.

Reply Hello Mr Webber I was out and I seen there was standing water in front of your drive. I also seen that it is also not only in front of your property that has this issue. To solve this issue it has to be a street wide approach otherwise we just move the problem to another section. At the moment in time Wester Broom Avenue is not on the capital list to have any carriageway works happen. With the limited access we have with the squads available to carry out this kind of work we are prioritising major routes but have added this street to a project bank for future consideration. I have also asked the area inspector to head out and make safe any actionable defects. Any further information please don’t hesitate and to get back in contact. • Once again I report that since my last update to you there has once again been no action to repair potholes on Wester Broom Avenue which is the main Road into this scheme for all transport especially outside number 15 the avenue which when it rains is a very big 6 feet by 6 feet Puddle where a Pedestrian could easily be soaked by a passing car or lorry.

  • My reply from Peter Mitchell of the council dated Feb 2020 seems job is too big. Wonder what the outcome was?

Reply I instructed our area inspector to head out and make safe any actionable defects that you mentioned in your previous e-mail. With regards to the ponding my evaluation of the situation is still the same. This needs to be tackled as a whole street and not just a local fix as it will force water further down the road. Our capital asset team is in the programming stage of accessing all the roads in Edinburgh (this is done once a year) your street then get a score and the worst streets get put on the Capital Resurfacing list. • This has not been sorted yet and although they have marked some area's in need of immediate repair to date these have not been fixed. Is Ladywell road going to be bus only?

  • The majority off pot holes have been fixed thank you but they have still to fix quite a few more that they could have fixed when they were here. Why leave a job half finished when with a little more effort they could have filled all the pot holes.
