Littering, loitering, anti-social behaviour
Reported in the Street cleaning category anonymously at 09:19, Sun 22 July 2012
Sent to Waltham Forest 1 minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 267108.
Regularly groups of people congregate on the pavement opposite the shop on Lea Hall Rd drinking alcohol and causing a disturbance, Examples are setting off fireworks, damaging trees (including trying to pull trees down), defacating in the bushes, sitting on residents cars and noise disturbance well into the early hours. This area is littered with cans and bottles as well as bread and fruit from the shop opposite. The police have been informed on several occasions, as have the local authority and Kier, the private company responsibe for street cleaning. There are no litter bins in the area around the shop.

The bushes which were overgrowing now extend fully across the pavement. The rubbish from the shop on the corner has now been joined by a broken dressing table and cardboard packaging. People clearly are mistaking it for the local tip. I have written to my MP who has written to the council but even that has not worked. Waltham Forest don't seem to know which of the numerous private companies they sub-conntract to is responsible. It's a disgrace!

How to get the council to stop ignoring you:
I eventually got the council to remove the bushes which were causing a problem, after months of getting nowhere. I achieved this by copying the Local Guardian into my emails, and copying WF Direct into the emails I got back from the local press asking to interview me. Hey presto! The job got done within 48 hours.
