Posts erected on verge
Reported via desktop anonymously at 13:30, Tuesday 13 April 2021 using FixMyStreet Pro
Sent to Cherwell District Council and Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 2669232.
Posts have been erected again on the verge along the "S" bend going out of Fritwell along Raghouse Lane. This is a narrow lane with blind bends and traffic, horses and walkers cannot get out of the way of oncoming traffic. This is a dangerous and urgent issue, and not the first time it has been done. I reported the same thing on fixmystreet on the 14th March 2019 and they were removed at that time. I am Chair of the Parish Council and residents have reported near head-on collisions over the last few days. I need to hear from you urgently about this as I am worried about a more serious accident. I can provide more background and an indication of who we believe has erected the posts. Please contact me.
Thank you for your enquiry. This issue has been passed onto the relevant team for investigation.

Please can you inform me if this is still being investigated. Alison Smith from Somerton Parish Council also submitted these fence posts as an issue earlier in the week and has received a reply saying that it does not meet the criteria for intervention and will not be fixed; and that it is a privately owned verge and posts are on the OCC boundary line. Fritwell Parish Council has searched the Land Registry and there is no registered land owner listed. Back in March 2019 we had a similar issue and at that time you responded and the posts were removed. What has changed? and how can we resolve this issue to prevent a serious accident here.

Thank you for your report. We have assessed it and found that this is a privately owned verge and the posts are on the line of the boundary with OCC. they are not a hazard and it will be up to the land owner what they do on their verge. regards
