Two verges are in a poor state of repair
Reported via mobile in the Footways and Pavement damage category anonymously at 13:52, Fri 26 March 2021
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 2635438.
These two verges (next to one another) are both in a very poor state of repair. Vehicles are constantly driving across them, parking on them causing obstructions, churning them up and spreading mud across the road. Please can they be cared for better, posts erected to stop the destruction, or yellow lines. Cars on the opposite side of the road don’t allow for easy access.

Thank you for your report. In Answer to your comment 'Two verges are in a poor state of repair.....Please can they be cared for better ': Due to budgetary constraints and also that the damage you report, on the verge, unfortunately, doesn't meet our current intervention criteria, I cannot arrange a repair.
In answer to your request concerning 'Two verges are in a poor state of repair....Please can.....posts be erected to stop the destruction, or yellow lines': Vale Traffic Schemes Team have replied with: "Installing posts to protect the verge is something that needs to be funded privately. Information on this can be found here; https://www.oxfordshire.gov.uk/ residents/ roads-and-transport/ street-maintenance-z/ verges.
However before this can take place the verge will need to be inspected to ensure that it is safe to do so."
I am therefore closing this report.Relevant extract from this web page:
Protection of grass verges
Town and parish councils frequently express concern about the erosion of verges caused by building work and vehicles. Even after reinstatement or re-seeding, similar problems may continue.
- In our experience, the most effective method of preventing grass verge damage is to prevent access to it with short, substantial posts.
Short posts
Where a town or parish council wants permanent protection for a verge:
- pressure treated or hardwood wooden posts at least 100mm (4 ins) square, set 600mm (2 ft) into the ground, 600mm (2 ft) tall, and set back 450mm (18 ins) from the road, could be used
- the cost of each approved scheme will need to be paid to us before installation takes place
- we will not fund future maintenance costs
- due to possible danger to and from buried apparatus, we would need to arrange the installation.
