Dumped skip containing asbestos

Reported via desktop in the Miscellaneous category anonymously at 21:32, Thursday 25 March 2021

Sent to Stevenage Borough Council less than a minute later

Following the work to remove the asbestos from garages 1-4 this skip containing the hazardous material has been left here for the last six weeks. I am suspicious that there is some violations of health and safety laws going on here. From what I understand, if asbestos is discovered in a building, by law it has to be removed. Although the material has been removed from the garages, it has been left in this skip and no one has come to take it away. Under the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2006 leaving it there for weeks (where there's potentially the risk of kids breaking in and exposing themselves) sure cannot be legal. For this reason it needs to be removed immediately.

  • Almost a month later and the skip is still there! This is an absolute joke! The asbestos removal work was carried out back in February and still no one has come to remove this skip!
