Illegal use of right turn lane to enter BP Petrol Station from South

Reported in the Road traffic signs category by Dave Crane at 15:21, Wed 6 June 2012

Sent to Bedford Borough Council 3 minutes later

Newnham Avenue, Bedford

Southbound Cars making a legal right turn using the right turn lane into Rosamund Road, near the White Horse Pub, are often confronted HEAD ON by Northbound cars making an ILLEGAL right turn into the BP Petrol Station - they are driving AGAINST the direction arrows in the lane.

ACTION NEEDS TO BE TAKEN URGENTLY - many near head-on collisions have been witnessed at least twice a day by myself - it's on my journey to and from work, plus other times of day.

Bedford Borough Council needs to deal with this URGENTLY before someone is KILLED!

I first reported this matter via this website in OCTOBER 2011 - so far NO ACTION has been taken!

  • No Change - this morning I witnessed a Silver Mercedes at 8 AM (04/07/2012) making an illegal right turn into the petrol station, nearly causing an accident by forcing it's way through an opposing line of traffic!

Typical apathy by Bedford Borough Council - always full of hot air and BS with their propaganda, but rarely doing anything of any use to anyone!

Are they waiting for someone to be killed before they take action?

  • still no change!!!!

BEDFORD BOROUGH COUNCIL why are you so apathetic at solving this - A quick fix is some no right tunr signs for people heading North, long term solution is bollards and raised curb to prevent drivers getting across to make the illegal right turn.
