Public footpath issues

Reported via desktop in the Pavements/footpaths category anonymously at 15:16, Thu 4 February 2021

Sent to Hampshire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 2524862.

Perhaps Covid has highlighted this issue since all these lockdowns, as many local people are now taking daily exercise around the local area where we all live. The footpath from the corner of Old Salisbury Road heading down on the Romsey Road, over the bridge and passing Golden Larch and heading to the Mortimers is totally unpassable the further you go along towards the Mortimers Pub. As you cros over the road into Paultons Park and carry on over the motorway to Loperwood Lane, there is no public footpath to be seen. This makes it difficult to walk, run or push a pushchair with young children. The footpath from the Vine to the Ower roundabout had work done on the path last year and is great, but it is the other way on the Romsey Road, from Golden Larch Fencing (Old Nursery) all the way along, passing the Mortimers pub over the motorway and to Loperwood Lane. We are likely to be in this position with taking exercise for the rest of this year locally and it would be very, very much appreciated if some path clearing could take place at the same time as continuing the path to Loperwood Lane. Thank you!

  • Nothing done about it at all. The grass need moving back each side of path to original path width. When it rains, the mud runs onto the path from overgrown grass and is hazardous to walk, run etc.

  • I have given up with you doing anything at all. It’s been just over four months since I reported this issue. We might as well do it ourselves!
