Blocked Road Drain

Reported via desktop in the Roads/highways category anonymously at 11:12, Sat 30 January 2021

Sent to Norfolk County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 2511556.

An apparent blocked road drain by the layby in St. Andrews Lane is causing an overflow through the neighbouring road drain resulting in running water down the road and a deposit of silt through the layby bank and into the dyke. The dyke is starting to fill with silt which now needs clearing to keep the water table under control. The flow of water down the road and through the layby bank is extensive during periods of light rain due to run off from the fields containing livestock. An attempt was made to report the issue to Anglian Water who advised it was the responsibility of the Highways Dept.

Updates

  • Since the rain has stopped the drain is no longer overflowing. However it is expected to do so when it next rains. Then dyke now has significant infill from the mud running from the overflowing drain. The dyke now needs digging out as part of the resolution
