Road causing vibration of the house in Winchester Road

We moved into our house in Winchester Road, Boorley Green 12 years ago. At that time Winchester road was quiet and there was very little traffic. Since then, thousands of new homes have been built in Boorley Park, Crows Nest Lane and other areas adjacent to us. There is a secondary school and around 650 new houses being built in Woodhouse Lane which is a few hundred yards from our house. Work in preparation for the new Botley by-pass also started just before Christmas in Woodhouse Lane too.

As a consequence of all the building work many of the roads have been dug up many times and are now in a very poor condition. Due to the Covid situation I started working from home in March 2020. I was shocked to discover that our house violently shakes when some larger vehicles, including busses, pass by. This has caused lots of crack to appear and many parts of our house. Some of my neighbours are experiencing the same problem. We have attached pictures of the road and some of the cracks in our house. We are extremely worried about the effect this vibration and shaking is having on our house. The problem seems to be compounded by the fact there is a join/crack in the road outside our house. When larger vehicles go over it (often well above the speed limit), it causes the vehicle to jar and consequently causes a lot of vibration which in turns affects our house. We understand from the other local residents that they are experiencing the same problems. They told us that they have contacted the council on a number of occasions but any repairs made were of a temporary nature and have since failed. While tying this letter we have counted in excess of ten large, heavy vehicles passing our house. This was not by seeing them pass through the window but by the noise and shaking of our house. We would ask that the road surface is repaired in such a way as to eliminate the vibration when vehicles cross it. We do not feel the road is suitable for large vehicles. Is there any traffic calming measures that can be introduced to slow down the traffic?
