Ice across road due to water running from spring. Road impassable earlier.

Reported via desktop anonymously at 10:11, Mon 25 January 2021

Sent to Folkestone and Hythe District Council and Kent County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 2499666.

In front of no 1 Mill Fields Road and right across the road, spreading down the hill, there is what I believe to be a spring that is spreading right out across the road, and pavement. It is freezing to a sheet of ice and was totally impassable at 6:30 this morning. I approached the corner very tentatively (I live at no 5 and have done for 30+ years so know what it can be like) I tried my hardest more than once to get over the ice and ended up nearly crashing my car into a neighbour's fence as I was totally out of control and going backwards. No way would any emergency services be able to get up/down the hill. Please treat this as an emergency as if a car slides all the way back down Mill Fields Road this is likely to be detrimental to life, causing serious injury at the very least. Many thanks

  • Waste of time and energy reporting on here or to the Council. Council told me they would not be refilling grit bins due to budgetary constraints. As predicted we had more bad weather and key workers were unable to get out of road to work. Weather has improved now .............
