Parking / access

Since parking restrictions have been introduced around Forde Park, all the vehicles that used to park there have moved out of the restricted area and now cause serious congestion in the Keyberry Park area. This makes it very difficult and often dangerous to negotiate junctions and entrances to the properties.

The problem is getting worse. Some vehicles have been left right on entrances to property for the whole working week making access very difficult and dangerous. This morning I witnessed two vehicles being left at 7am in which the occupants left with bags I assume going to the railway station, and the vehicles were still there at tea time. Vehicles are parking on the junctions outside the nursing home and the childrens nursery and to make things worse as I was leaving the nursery thismorning a vehicle reversed into me whilst trying to negotiate the traffic causing considerable damage to my vehicle. If something is not done soon there will be more serious accidents, it's only a matter of time and with a large number of children and elderly people using this area the results could be serious.

Have been in touch with local councilors who fully support me . They have recieved a large amount of complaints about the parking problem and have been in touch with Devon County council Highways Dept. It apears that we have hit a stone wall as the council say that they will review the situation six months from the time that parking restrictions were introduced in Forde Park as they say that these problems tend to sort themselves out on their own. I think that this is just a cop out and think that they should be personally liable if any accidents or personal injury are caused by their failure to address the issue.

Local councilors support my cause but the county council refuse to take any action and say that these problems tend to sort themselves out and will review the situation in 6 months time. Even though there has been much correspondance in the local press. It apears that the County Council does not want to take its responsibilties seriously and prevent further accidents occuring in this area.
