Divit : channel going across pavement ... I fell over went to hosp and fractured ankle

Reported via mobile in the Pavements/footpaths category anonymously at 13:19, Tuesday 19 January 2021

Sent to Hertfordshire County Council less than a minute later

The channel is not very noticable and deceiving to the eye when walking towards it ... I stumbled down it on the right side and was told by doctors at hospital I have fractured my ankle, and am now in a cast.

Updates

  • The council sprayed the dipped areas with bright paint. Then said they were not responsible for that small section of pavement. So I have taken it further as I have a cast on and cannot or about 8 weeks. Someone needs to make this safe and be held accountable.

  • Please beware ... this stretch of pavement is NOT the Highways responsibility ... the Ian’s is owned by the property / leaseholders of the block of flats next to the path.

The pavement is still treacherous and I have been unable to work since 18.01.21 due to a broken ankle.

  • The council sprayed the floor to warn people but immediately realised it wasn’t their liability. No more further markings made and have since faded. Photos to show the risk of hidden dip and crumbling path.
