A cyclist dismount sign has been installed for the new shared use cycle track that will eventually cross the new housing development. "Cyclists dismount" signs should not be used, if it is deemed too dangerous to cycle, then a safe design needs to be constructed. It seems daft to have a 600m long shaed use path, only to have signs saying dismount for the last few meters... DfT traffic-signs-manual-chapter-03 Para 11.11.9 says " A sign with the legend “CYCLISTS REJOIN CARRIAGEWAY” might be of benefit at the end of a A cycle track or shared footway. The “CYCLISTS DISMOUNT” variant should be provided only where cyclists are required to use a pedestrian‑only crossing facility, at the entrance to a pedestrian area, at a location with a low headroom or width restriction (e.g. a subway or bridge) or at places where visibility is restricted to such an extent that cycling would be unsafe
