Dangerous road

Reported anonymously at 12:31, Thu 12 April 2012

Sent to Richmondshire District Council and North Yorkshire County Council 4 minutes later

Excessive speed of vehicles using Fontenay road is a major problem & is getting worse. It is generally reduced to single lane traffic because of residents' (legally) parked vehicles. Being very close to the schools, dangerous situations constantly occur involving pedestrians & "school run" traffic. In the past, children have been knocked down & cars have collided. There have been numerous near misses & pets have been killed & maimed. The actual junction with Darlington road becomes blocked daily, during school run times. Also, HGV's including busses and heavy council vehicles are regularly using this route, which, has a weight restriction of 7.5t as a short cut to Darlington Road. Making it a one way street with traffic calming measures, preventing traffic entering from Gilling Road would solve the problem.
