Blocked culvert in danger of causing flooding

Reported via desktop by Alan Reimer at 18:15, Fri 18 December 2020

Sent to Hertfordshire County Council and Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council less than a minute later

This is about the entrance of to the Sherrards Park Wood car park off Rectory Lane. The entrance goes over a culvert, but this is blocked. The photo shows a ditch with a very high water level on one side of the entrance. It is close to flooding. The other photo shows the other end of the blocked culvert. Water should be flowing from the pipe, but it isn't. As volunteer wood wardens, we tried to clear the blockage using rods, but we couldn't do it with the equipment we had. If the ditch floods, it might damage the pot holes which are being filled in & may create new ones.

  • I was there today & took photographs, The culvert has not been cleared. One picture shows the flooded side of the enrance. The water level is too high & not draining. The other picture shows the other side of the entrance. If fixed, it should show flowing water. It doesn't. It shows a muddy puddle!
