Speed limit on Chadwell Road

Reported via desktop in the Roads/highways category anonymously at 13:20, Mon 7 December 2020

Sent to Hertfordshire County Council less than a minute later

I have previously been told that the speed limit on Chadwell road is 30 mh, however when I recently had a new courtesy car it stated that I was allowed to drive 60 mh on Chadwell rd. Maybe thats why cars are driving too fast on this road! A road sign with max speed of 30 mh needs to be erected by the entrance to Chadwell road to stop confusion.

    Still open, via questionnaire

  • There is a clear sign at the entrance to Norton Green on the left giving the speed limit as 20 mph - this is because chadwell Road ends at this point and it is Norton Green Common -although this is not reflected in HCC gazetteer correctly nor is it reflected in Google maps. From this point the track is common land. It would be helpful if HCC corrected their information. Speeding in this area is a significant issue given the common is a SSSI and nature reserve and well used by walkers and there are deer in the area.
