Dangerously Overgrown Willow Tree

Reported in the Trees category anonymously at 14:24, Mon 19 March 2012

Sent to South Oxfordshire District Council 1 minute later

There is an Overgrown willow tree off the footpath here, nobody has claimed ownership of it and the Roots are damaging the footpath between the houses here. There is also a danger to the COuncil Property nearest the tree in times of bad weather as the branches have been known to hit the Roof and brickwork of this house.. Hollis (Surveying Buildings 4th ed profile/ index.php?page=publications) Reccomends Willow trees of this size (15m+ high) need to be at least 25 metres away from any house due to their active root systems It also states there is a very high risk of property damage. This tree is less than a metre away from a Council Property and not maintained.

  • Was expecting at least a polite acknowledgement of my query but I guess that would have been expecting too much of SODC. On digging in our garden this past weekend we have since discovered Tree routes from this mentioned tree..For anyone that is interested, the tree is the large green thing right next to the house on the right hand side of the picture
