Exposed drain

Reported via iOS in the Roads/highways category anonymously at 11:20, Mon 16 November 2020

Sent to Hampshire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 2389716.

The road next to the drain has broken down exposing an open drain. It has been marked for repair but my concern is that in the interim time waiting for repair it should be covered because of danger to people crossing the road and also dangerous to the hedgehog populations in the area. They could easily fall down the drain and not be able to get out. Hedgehogs are now classified as “vulnerable to extinction” and we should do everything we can to protect them. Thank you

Updates

  • This is the vehicle which damaged the drain. It stops there regularly, but is not doing deliveries. The driver has now taken to parking on the pavement just a little further down the road, causing a hazard to drivers and pedestrians. The council has placed 'men at work' signs down the road (causing a further hazard) but it is ten weeks on and there is no indication of the work being done and the hedgehogs (and people) of the area are still imperilled.
