Footpath churned up by scrambling bikes

Reported via desktop in the Pavements/footpaths category anonymously at 17:05, Sun 15 November 2020

Sent to Leicestershire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 2388769.

This is just one section of a footpath known as The Drift, which stretches from Woolsthorpe to Buckminster and is normally a great walk all throughout the year. The scramblers have consistently eroded the path so it now collects rainwater and has no chance to recover during the dry months.

Updates

  • The complaint was kicked back by Leicestershire with the excuse that the footpath, which actually forms the county boundary, was the responsibility of Lincolnshire.

  • Lincolnshire County Council were very helpful and have forwarded the matter to their Countryside Team who will investigate further.
