Kennington Meadows cycleway: Wet leaves causing bicycle accidents

Reported via desktop in the Street cleaning category by Chris Smowton at 18:23, Tue 10 November 2020 using FixMyStreet Pro

Sent to Vale of White Horse District Council less than a minute later

The cycleway running parallel to the railway line between the beginning of Hinksey Stream and Sandford Lane is in places covered with leaf litter, which when wet is treacherous for cyclists. I witnessed a crash here yesterday; the rider was injured though thankfully not seriously. Taking a road sweeper down the path periodically while leaves are falling fast would be a big help.

Updates

  • As far as I'm aware the cycle path is maintained by Sustrans and not the Highways Authority. It's a voluntary organisation and relies on people to help and contribute. I'm sure Sustrans and other cycleway users would be most grateful for someone going along for some leaf sweeping and bramble snipping.
